Metabolic
A consulting and venture building company that uses systems thinking to tackle global sustainability challenges.

I am always on the lookout for tangible examples to bring circular thinking to life. DeCeuvel, Metabolic’s urban living lab in Amsterdam, excels in doing just that. It's a former shipyard which has become a blueprint for circular experimentation - showcasing urban, closed-loop thinking in action. After exploring DeCeuvel as a casestudy in my report on circular value propositions for the EFRO-project I knew I had only scratched the surface. I was eager to dig deeper and joined the MarComs team at Metabolic. It wasn’t only my true education into circular systems, but also a platform for sharing the complexity and beauty of systems thinking with the rest of the world. Always driving home the message: Systems change is very possible, and very necessary.
Personal highlights:
-
Writing an SEO-led article - and concepting graphics - on the topic of Recycling, downcycling and the need for a circular economy
-
Channeling my passion for living labs into a written piece on how they hold the key for city's circular transitions
-
Translating the complexity of Metabolic's systems-thinking approach into an easily-digestible social series
-
Managing partners and assets of a Metabolic-led webinar as part of Circular City Week New York
-
Contributing to annual strategic planning and distilling session outcomes into actionable items

"Although Agnes joined as an intern but immediately became an integral part of our team. She took on a wide range of tasks from writing to video to partner management, with an energy and intelligence that's very much a part of her. She worked independently on longer tasks, and was an absolute pleasure to manage, and to work with. Her passion for sustainability was part of the reason we would have been thrilled to keep her, and although it did not work out this time, there is no doubt she would be an excellent addition to any team that's lucky enough to have her."
